Machine Operated is a creative studio working across commercials, music videos, photography and live production — for brands with something to say and artists with something to prove.
Studio
Since 2018 we have made work for Nike, Google, Calvin Klein and Saint Laurent, and with artists including Daniel Caesar, Skepta and Greentea Peng. Campaigns that run globally, and films that live somewhere more personal.
We care about craft — the frame, the cut, the grade — but craft on its own is decoration. What holds a piece together is the idea underneath it, and the discipline to protect that idea from the moment it is pitched to the moment it ships.
What we do
Creative Direction
Concept, art direction and campaign identity — from the first treatment through to final delivery.
Moving Image
Commercials, music videos and documentary, directed and produced in house.
Photography
Stills campaigns, portraiture and editorial, shot alongside the film or on its own.
Live Production
Tour visuals, stage content and live event film for artists and brands.
How we work
Idea first
Format and budget follow the idea, not the other way round. We would rather make one thing properly than five things safely.
Small teams
We keep crews tight and decisions close to the people actually making the work. Fewer hands, fewer compromises.
Finish properly
We stay with a project through the edit, the grade and the mix. The last ten percent is usually the part people remember.
